Where to report
In an emergency or if there is a serious ongoing threat
- Violence and other criminal hazing activities should be reported to UCPD. In an emergency, call 911 or, from a cell phone, (510) 642-3333. For crimes no longer in progress, call (510) 642-6760.
- Violations of this policy by a student or student organization may be reported to the Center for Student Conduct by filing a Berkeley Campus Code of Student Conduct incident report form.
- Violations of this policy by an employee may be reported to the Abusive Conduct portal for assessment under the Abusive Conduct policy and/or referral to the employee’s supervisor or other administrative authority.
- Violations of this policy may be reported anonymously via the Whistleblower Hotline for routing to the appropriate office.
When reporting is required
Anyone designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) must report hazing to the University as soon as practically possible.
Who is a Campus Security Authority (CSA)?
You are a CSA if you:
- Work for campus police or otherwise have responsibility for campus security.
- Are designated, as an individual or through your office/organization, to receive reports of criminal offenses from students and employees.
- Have responsibility for campus security but do not work for a campus police department or a campus security department, such as an individual who is responsible for monitoring entrance into a University property.
- Have significant responsibility for student and campus activities (e.g., student housing, student discipline and campus judicial proceedings, serving a advisor to a registered student organization).
Every CSA is assigned the annual Clery Act Training for Campus Security Authorities course through the UC Learning Center. If you are not sure of your status as a CSA, you can check your training assignments in the Learning Center.
